A field trip or excursion is a journey by a group of people to a place away from their normal environment .The purposes of trip is usually observation for education,non-exprimental reserch or to provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities,such as going champing with teachers and their classmates.The aim of this reserch is to observe the subject in natural state and possibly collect samples.It is seen that more-advantaged children may have already experianced culturaled institutions outside of school,and field trips provide a common ground with more advantages and-less advantaged childern to have some of the same cultural experiances in the arts. Popular field trip sites include zoos ,nature centers ,community agencies such as fire stations and hospitals ,Government agencies,local businesses ,amusements parks science museums , and factories .Field trips provide alternative educational opportunities for children and can benefit the community if they include some type of community service.Field trips also provide students the opportunity to take a break from there normal are routine and experience more hands on learning .Places like zoos and nature centers often have an interactive displays that allow childern to touch plants or animals.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE FIELD TRIPS
Acquire useful application of the “Inquiry based learning approach “were data and information converted in to useful knowledge.
Develop “technical competency “by observing, collecting, interpreting, recording and evaluating geographic information from primary sources through field work.
Collect specific examples that will substantiate generic explanation processes and landforms in physical geographic information from primary sources through fieldwork.
Provide valuable qualitative and affective learning experiences which will encourage deeper thinking about the interaction between man and his environment.
To train arts students in observation skills through drawings.
To create an application of nature in arts student.
To be exposed to the cultures and way of life of different group of people and to be humble and respectful their interaction.
Foster strong bonds friendships and camaraderie among students and with teachers from Mayflower Secondary School.
ADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION IN
There are many ways to link field trips and social studies curriculum standards students who go on field trips become more empathetic and to lerant .A study conducted by the “University of Arkansas” found that students that participate in a fieldtrip to an art museum show increased empathy , tolerance and critical thinking skills.

TRIP TO MYSORE
It is believed that the city Mysore derived its name from mahishasura (and enormous demon) who was the ruler of this province for a long term . Finally, he was beaten by the goddess chamundeshwari and this province became demon free. Now, Mysore city is the headquarters of Mysore District ,located in Deccan plateau of south India about 772 meters above mean sea level. Mysore, also called as mysore, is second largest city (after Bangalore ) in Karnataka with an area of 129 sq.km. Mysore is the base of chamundi mountains about 142 km away from Bangalore.The people of Mysore mainly survive with professions which are related to tourism .There have lots of beautiful tourist spots which attracted thousands of tourists throughout the year .Now, the IT industries also take another major source of income by the city residents. Mysore is the second (next to Bangalore) in Karnataka to exporting the software .Beside of these, some medium range of industries is also noticed in Mysore. The city also called as the cultural capital of Karnataka due to its festivities that take place during the period of Dasara which are celebrated over a ten-day period.
As a part of Degree Course, we planned to arrange a trip to Mysoore, coorg . The tour was organized 3 days.35 students and 3 teachers along with the Headmistress went for tour. In January 2017 Wednesday at 10.pm we start our Journey from “NSS College Cherthala”. We reach Thrissur at 1.15 pm and we had our launch. After that we continue our journey. Gudular- madumalai-Tiger Reserve on the Karnataka. Side are both on this route as well. It is common to see all kinds of wildlife in a journey. Deer’s and monkey’s are common and we also saw several Peacocks and wild-boar .At 10.15 we reach Mysoore and stay in Bandipoore Safari lodge.
It is walkable distance to the South entrance of the Mysore Palace from park Lane Hotel .We choose to taken an(Otto-Tuk-Tuk) instead for around Rs.59.The palace is open all days between 10 am and 5.30 pm. As the most popular Tourist destination in Mysore, the place gets crowded very quickly and so your best bet is to arrive early. Ticket Pricing is Rs.40 for Indians and Rs.200 for others.
A palace was first constructed in the area in the 14th century and the current palace was a built in the late 19th century and expanded up till around1940.The palace is popular due to the vast opulence seen through-out, is wonderful muralas, other paintings, and overall architecture. The design of the main building is described as Indo-Saracenic: a combination of Hindu,Gothic, Muslims and Rajput styles of architecture. The royal wedding hall and the Public Durbar are the most impressive areas of the main building. The palace ground also have twelve temples.
A not- to-be- missed experience of Mysore palace is illuminated for an hour on Sundays and Holidays between 7Pm and 8Pm.A good way to experience this to the fullest is to hire a Taxi/Otto for an hour to go around the palace-the fare runs to upwards of Rs.200.
After having our lunch we moved to Zoo. Afternoon at 2.30 pm we reached in Mysore Zoo.It is one of the oldest and most popular Zoos in India. We saw awide range of species .We paid 80 Rs. for each person for the entry.
The Zoo is the currently have to ten elephants, and has more elephants than any other Zoo in India. The Zoo also has five green anacondas contributed by Colombo Zoo. It also has giraffes, Zebras, Lions, tigers, white rhinoceroses and baboons.
The next day i.e. Jan 19th Friday, at 7.30 AM we started to the journey to visit “ Ranganathittu bird Sanctuary” we reach there at 9.00Am.The Sanctuary open for visitors from 8.30 Am to 5.45PM (Monday to Sunday). We feel were lucky to visit the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary in journey, which as per the park guard is also the best season to visit the migratory bird’s paradise .From June to September marks the monsoon season and another great season as these are the nesting month for the birds. However, do note that due to water rise in Kaveri River, the boat facility would not be there.
During our boat side, we enjoy as well .During your boat ride, you can enjoy the impressive landscape of the Sanctuary& catch glimpses of crocodiles, bats, and otter along with the migratory birds.The bank of Cauvery River is also popular as picnic spots. Boating charges for Indians are Rs.50 per person in share while for foreigners it is Rs.300 per person .The exclusive private boat can is available for Rs.1000/- which you can enjoy a private safari.
We won’t find the facility of lodging in around Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, so tourists are required to either stay at Mysore, Vrindavan or Srirangapatna which are nearby to the Sanctuary. There is a facility of a small canteen near the Lake. We would suggest eating in the cafeteria unless you are hungry as the prices are high with limited availability we had our dinner.
The next day morning 8.00 am can we started our journey to coorg. We reach ‘Honnamana Kera Lake ’at 9. 00 am. An ideal culture of coorg.
After noon at 2.00 pm we had our launch and moved to our collage. On the way our Prasanth sir (economics prof ) brought some ice creams and gave to us. At 4.00 am we reached in our collage. Hannamana Kere (Hannama Lake) is a place that must be visited while on your Coorg trip. It is one of the many tourist sports in Somwarpet which is one of the taluks of Coorg.Honnamana Kere Lake is located in Daddamalathe which is quite near to the village Sulmalthe.Sulimaithe village is at a distance of 6 km from Somwarpet town.
The tour enriched our knowledge .The tour was well organized with delicious food and good hotel accommodation. We were more attached with our teachers .I am going to remember this fantastic trip to magnificent Mysore and I’m going to treasure this and soul .The trip has been one of the glories and action packed one. The trip should not be taken as a pleasure trip ,though it is a sort of an enjoyable activity .It provide the most concrete and the most red learning experience . The trip gives more social, cultural stimulations and motivates us to be more interactive and creative’s.
